FAQ

  • How do I make a booking?

Email our office team thehilltopoffice@gmail.com to make a booking. If you are a new customer we will send you the link to set up a kennel booker account so you can view your bookings.

  • Does my dog need to be vaccinated?

Yes. No dog can be stay without a current vaccination certificate against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo virus, Parainfluenza (DHLPPI) Leptospirosis and is part of our Terms and Conditions, Licence and Insurances.

We do not require your dog to have had the Kennel Cough vaccine but if your dog has had this vaccine, we ask that they do not attend Hilltop for 4 weeks from the date it is given, some vets will advise 2 weeks, but we have a strict policy for the boarding and day-care facilities that it must be 4 weeks to protect our clients’ dogs.

  • Can I visit before I book?

We like to invite new customers for a viewing to show you our set up and meet our staff. Viewings are Mondays to Saturday at 11.30 am depending on availability. You are still able to book your dog in for a stay before viewing, but we must keep viewings to appointments only so we can arrange for a staff member to show you around. We are unable to do viewings when you drop off or collect as we are still dealing with clients coming and going at the gate. You are welcome to bring your dog to the viewing.

  • Late collections

6pm weekday is the last collection and 5.30pm on a Saturday. We ask that you please adhere to our times. If you are unable to make the close time due to traffic or cancellation of trains, please let us know asap so we can arrange for staff to stay on to wait for you to collect your dog at the agreed time. Late charges will be added to your account. If it is not possible to collect in good time, then we will board your dog for collection the next morning and you will be charged accordingly.

  • At what age can I board my puppy?

Our minimum age requirement for boarding puppies is three months. This is usually enough time for your puppy to have completed their regimen of puppy vaccines, which are typically given over a period of 12 weeks.

  • Do I have to bring my own dog food?

Yes please. We believe it would be best for your dogs to stay on their own food. If you have added extra nights while away and did not pack enough food we do have a supply of Harringtons Just 6 Salmon which is a hypoallergenic, grain-free dog food designed to manage food sensitivities. We also have this in wet food. Each meal is £3.00

We have fridges and freezers for your raw dog food. Please send instructions with the amount in grams of how much food your dog has per meal. Meal times are 3 times a day as some dogs get lunch. Please advise when your dog is to be fed

  • Do you have CCTV?

Yes, Our kennel blocks, play paddocks and grounds are secure, patrolled, regularly inspected, and well maintained with extensive CCTV deployed for additional 24 hour surveillance.

  • What happens if my dog gets sick or injured?

We endeavour to keep our customers and dog details with preferences up to date with vaccines, exercise preferences, grooming, vet registration details, UK emergency numbers etc so for any event we can act accordingly. We recommend you notifying your vet that your dog stays with us when you are away. We always make contact with you if we are worried about your dog but a vet will always require the owners consent before we book an appointment. If we are unable to get hold of you and we feel we need to see a vet immediately it is always helpful that your vet knows we are looking after your dog and allow us to book the appointment. If your vet is too far away and it is an emergency we will use our local vet.
